Empowering Teens with ADHD – Online Facilitated for Teens by SafeZone and ADHD Foundation
The OnTrac program consists of three dynamic modules, each delivered through engaging, interactive online group sessions facilitated by a registered psychologist. Recognizing the critical need for timely and accessible support, OnTrac offers a structured, evidence-based program delivered online over six weeks, with 1.5-hour sessions each week. This allows families in rural, regional, and metro locations to access this vital resource from the comfort of their homes.
The OnTrac program, developed by SafeZone Counselling in collaboration with the ADHD Foundation, is specifically designed to empower teens with ADHD. It focuses on building their knowledge, resilience, and practical skills to manage their condition effectively.
Designed for eligible teens aged 14-17 years and diagnosed with ADHD, the program is offered under Medicare’s Better Access Initiative (Group Therapy, Item 80123). To obtain a rebate, participants require a referral from their GP, paediatrician, or psychiatrist with the specified item number. Feedback will be provided to the referring professional upon program completion.
This CBT based group program aims to assist the children with their gradual transition into environments that are less structured and less supervised, as well as help them cope with the emotional challenges that are inherent to this phase of development that are often exacerbated by their ADHD.
This program is comprised of three modules each one building on the previous one.
Aim: To provide foundational knowledge about ADHD, enabling participants to understand how the condition affects their lives and identify strategies for management.
Teens with ADHD often face additional challenges due to co-occurring conditions like anxiety, depression, and learning disorders.
By increasing awareness, this module lays the groundwork for self-acceptance and informed decision-making.
Aim of this module is to foster emotional resilience and equip participants with the ability to approach challenges in a constructive and realistic way.
Negative thinking often erodes self-esteem and contributes to the emotional difficulties experienced by teens with ADHD.
Through this module, teens learn to challenge unhelpful thought patterns, develop a growth mindset, and build the confidence to navigate life’s challenges effectively.
Aim: To develop practical executive functioning skills that empower teens to manage daily responsibilities and transitions with greater independence.
Executive functioning deficits often hinder academic success, time management, and social relationships.
Learning these skills during adolescence equips teens with the tools to succeed in various aspects of their lives, building a foundation for long-term achievement and independent.
